He wrote a lot of the Beach Boys lyrics over the years and was probably second only to Brian Wilson in creative input. He's kept the Beach Boys alive for decades including the death of two original members and the decades that Brian Wilson was completely out of it. Like him or not as you see fit but he was far from a hanger-on.

If you've purchased a car in the US in the last 70 years you will be given a pink copy of the sales receipt still. That shows you have title and possession of said vehicle. Ironically I still walk around with the pink slip for my car just because I can. I blame this song. Tommy explained it earlier, but every state in the US still issues the buyer a pink copy of the sales receipt if they use private finance or buy the car outright from a dealer.

Thats absolutely bloody fantastic Jammmmmmmmmmon. I am probably the worlds 3rd biggest Beatles fan, after George Martin and yourself, but this band was the best vocal group we've ever had.

Remember, too, that the Beatles had great respect for these guys, including as they did a homage to them on the White Album; in particular, Brian Wilson's harmonic command could give even George Martin pause. It's often the most casual looking artists that conceal real artistry behind the apparently facile facade.
